Is my Lovable app secure?

Not by default, and not for sure. Lovable builds a working app fast, but it does not promise your data is locked down. The biggest risk is your Supabase database. If Row Level Security (RLS) is off or too loose, anyone with your public key can read or change rows. Check RLS, keys and login rules before real users sign up.

Step-by-step checklist

  1. Open your Supabase project. Go to the table list and confirm RLS is on for every table in the public schema.
  2. Read each policy. A policy like using (true) lets anyone in. Most user data should use a rule like auth.uid() = user_id.
  3. Search your code for service_role. That key skips RLS. It must never be in the frontend.
  4. Look at your built JS in the browser (DevTools, Sources tab). Make sure no secret keys show up there. The Supabase anon key is fine to be public.
  5. Log out and visit admin or account pages by URL. They should not load real data.
  6. Make a second test account. Try to see or edit the first account's data. You should not be able to.
  7. Check Supabase Storage buckets. Private files should not sit in a public bucket.
  8. Turn on email confirmation and check your auth settings in Supabase.

Lovable also has a built-in security scan. Use it, but treat it as one check, not proof.

FAQ

Is the Supabase anon key in my Lovable app a leak?

No. The anon key is meant to be public. It is only safe if RLS is on and your policies are tight.

What is Row Level Security?

RLS is a Postgres feature. It decides which rows each user can read or change. Without it, the public key can reach the whole table.

Does Lovable turn on RLS for me?

It often adds RLS and policies, but you should not assume they are right. Check every table yourself.

Can DeployVet check my Lovable app?

Yes. The Free check scans your live site from the outside. The $7 Scan can also read your Supabase project with read-only access.

Is a clean report a promise my app is safe?

No. It means we did not find the issues we look for. It is not a penetration test.

Check your app for free

DeployVet scans your live site from the outside, like a stranger would. You get a score and the worst issue with a fix.

DeployVet has three plans. The Free check is $0. A one-time Scan is $7. Pro is $15/mo and adds weekly scans and email alerts. For paid plans you pay first, then the scan runs.
